Please, do something, fix it!

The app is simply outstanding, but the problem is that it doesnt want to work with iOS 9... Please, do something ))

Very poor support

Becomes obsolete very quickly, no online updates. In this case I was not even able to reinstall it after some time as it has passed on to other publishing houses which have different (hectic) unlocking procedures. The email I received involved: giving them a code, my personal wifi address, snapshots of my purchases and then no one even bothers to reply. This has to be repeated every single time you want to reinstall it!

Update

Very useful dictionary but with iOS 9 it doesnt work anymore. Please fix it!

Worst customer support

I bought ahd4 but i cant use it any more because it needs to have the activation code so i sent email. No response.

Dont buy this app

I have had this app for many years through multiple app updates and iOS updates. Its not perfect, but its an app I use every day. Unfortunately, each time I have upgraded my phone (4s to 5s to 6s), the app asks for a redeem code that I no longer have. I emailed the developer as directed on the app but got no response. Im not going to pay $25 for an app I already own.

Failed again in iOS9

Since iOS 9 the dictionary no longer opens. For a $25 purchase one expects more. It is a great dictionary but the technical team is useless. Still wont even open on October 1, 2015

New phone requires new app purchase??!?!?

This was my go to dictionary app, but now that I have upgraded my phone I will have to repurchase to continue using the app. Why didnt this transfer to my new device? I refuse to spend money on something that should be transferable.

Do not buy this app like I did!

The app always stops working after a IOS update. Even a minor IOS update stops the app. There is no customer service to speak of. I have come to believe whoever owns this app is just trading on the name but has no real intention of actually investing money to make this app work. Apple should delist this app until the developers can prove it works. Its just basic fraud otherwise.

Make it work for iPad iOS 9!

Please update your app so it will work on iOS 9 on the iPad

Incomprehensible Failure

Like many other users, I have discovered that AHD5 will not run on my iPad after an upgrade to iOS 9. What can be said about a company that allows such a failure and is either unable or unwilling to repair it? Yes. It’s a first-class dictionary. But it’s effectively disabled on a platform that’s used by many writers, researchers, and educators. And it was quite expensive. With a wry grimace, I thank the company for the fact that I can still use ADH5 on my iPhone.

Crashes instantly on iOS 9

Why no update?

Failure to launch on iPad with IOS9

The app will show the splash screen and then fail. I have reloaded the app and rebooted but nothing works. This is a 5 star app when it works, but failure is frequent with IOS updates.

Great Dictionary, STILL NOT WORKING WITH IOS 9 on iPad!!!

Ive had this dictionary for years - ever since it first came out. I use it every day because of its incomparable Indo-European root appendix. But the publisher is always very SLOW to fix the disastrous bugs it often has that keep it from opening. iOS 9 has caused it to stop working AGAIN on my iPad (it works on my iPhone). I love this dictionary - PLEASE FIX THIS AND STOP HAVING TO BE TOLD TO DO SO - or else, give the AHD5 license to someone who will. Otherwise, this is a great and vital dictionary.

No longer works. What are the two apps in the App Store?

I bought this 5th edition some time back, and liked using it. Now it does not work at all. It alarms me that another app, with the exact ame icon and also called the "Fifth Edition" appears in the App Store, but indicating I would have to pay again to get it. Has the company abandoned the app(s)? From other reviews, I suspect the second app would also fail to work, even if I did pay for it again (which of course I will not do). Duden played a similar trick by abandoning an edition of its expensive German dictionary and offering a "new" edition for a high price. But their new edition works. Apple is not safeguarding its promise that a purchased app is a joy forever. And why is Apple allowing the sale of non-working apps?

Fails to Work After iOS9 Installed

After installing iOS9 the App opens with the title page and immediately goes to blank; then the iPad screen returns to the array of installed Apps. I now cannot use this App! Dont buy this until you see a change in level which explains the problem is corrected. I paid my $24.99 for this app and it has worked until now.

Do not purchase

Like others, as soon as I updated to iOS9, my 4th Edition stopped working on my iPad. It had worked perfectly fine up and until that point. Now, I see that instead of them supporting an app that I paid $25 for, I have to purchase a brand new app. Now, would I purchase a new dictionary every year??? NOPE … so why spend that on app that will stop working after a year or so once they upgrade to the next edition or Apple - which updates every six months or so. Much cheaper apps update and continue to work — why can’t this one? Won’t buy again. Rather go back to the ol skool and buy a hardcopy dictionary. At least that one won’t refuse to open up after a year.

Excellent Dictionary

Working well in ios 9 after app update.

No Longer works with iOS 9

incredible that this was easily the best dictionary available--bar none! well, it used to be but now after the recent ios updates, the app just crashes

DO NOT BUY

You will be wasting your money. The first time iOS upgrades you will lose service...forever. I have purchased twice, only to be ripped off twice. I cant believe Apple tolerates this!

Incredible Dictionary - The Best iPad lexicon.

To All: I have used this app since Ive owned an iPad. This is the best app. Too many features to describe here. In defense of Enfour and The American Heritage company, yes the app presently has some issues (like working right now), the American Heritage iPad app is incredible. The non working status stems from having to "keep up" with the constant Apple iOS upgrades to fix bugs. It is nearly impossible for a company like American Heritage to main a level of quality and continuity in their product if every other weeks theres an iOS update being release. If you can bare with that, the American Heritage Dictionary app will be your greatest investment.
